چکیده
Purpose: 1. Assess changes in cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) from 1998-2010, controlling for decimal age and body mass index (BMI). 2. Repeat the analysis in cohorts from 20052010, controlling for maturation, deprivation and BMI. Methods: 27,942 (n = 14,247 boys) 9-10.9yr old participants from one UK city were included in this serial cross-sectional study from 1998-1999 to 2009-2010. A deprivation score (IMD) was assigned to each participant on the basis of home postcode. Stature, sitting stature and body mass were estimated. BMI and somatic maturity were calculated. Performance on the 20m multi-stage shuttle runs test (20mSRT) was used to estimate of CRF (total shuttles). One-way ANCOVAs were completed to assess temporal trends in CRF, separately by sex. Model one assessed changes from 1998-2010 and included decimal age and body mass index as covariates. Model two assessed changes from 2005-2010 and included maturity, IMD and

Ten year secular declines in the cardiorespiratory fitness of affluent English children are largely independent of changes in body mass index.
Secular changes in body mass index (BMI) and cardiorespiratory fitness (20 m shuttle-run test performance) were assessed in 10-year-old children from an affluent area of England in 1998 (n = 303; 158 boys and 145 girls) and 2008 (n = 315; 158 boys and 157 girls). Girls' BMI did not change over the 10 year period. There was a significant increase in boys' BMI (p = 0.02). Cardiorespiratory fitnes...
متن کاملThe influence of relative age effects on the cardiorespiratory fitness levels of children age 9 to 10 and 11 to 12 years of age.
The aims of this study were firstly to examine whether there was an observed relative age effect in the cardiorespiratory fitness scores of 9-10 and 11-12 year old children, and secondly whether any observed effect was maintained after controlling for somatic maturity. Cardiorespiratory fitness data from 11,404 children aged 9-10 years and 3,911 children aged 11-12 years were obtained from a la...

Background: Poisoning comprises about 7% of accidents in children under 5-year-old and 2% of all pediatric deaths in developing countries. To warn against and prevent future potential poisoning with opioid substances, this comparative study was conducted on pediatric cases referred to the 17th Shahrivar Hospital in Rasht, Iran, in 2006 and 2018. Methods: In this retrospective, cross-sectional ...
متن کاملROC Generated Thresholds for Field-Assessed Aerobic Fitness Related to Body Size and Cardiometabolic Risk in Schoolchildren
OBJECTIVES 1. to investigate whether 20 m multi-stage shuttle run performance (20mSRT), an indirect measure of aerobic fitness, could discriminate between healthy and overweight status in 9-10.9 yr old schoolchildren using Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) analysis; 2. Investigate if cardiometabolic risk differed by aerobic fitness group by applying the ROC cut point to a second, cross-se...
